The EMA has recently announced the closure of the PIM project. This, given the delays and technical confusion of the past few years, was not unexpected. The EMA remains committed to the concept of structured product information and will return to this issue once the review process has been completed.
i4i believes that the underlying driver for PIM - information quality and inefficiencies in the drug product label development and approval processes - remain a serious issue. Companies that invested in PIM did so because they recognized the value of structured information in their drug product label management process. Those benefits will continue to accrue to the early adopters.
i4i is committed to protecting the investment of its clients and giving the market continued reason to invest in the i4i solution. To improve the range of our solutions, we are expanding our successful reuse-based structured authoring model to be used with desktop publishing tools, artwork systems, translation management systems, and CP MRP/DCP procedures.
