Semantically rich XML markup allows the metadata manager to automatically categorize and organize content on the user's behalf. XML support for track changes and commenting increases the efficiency and accuracy of the change manager. Support for document fragments is best realized using XML markup to identify the fragments.
The ALiCE modules can be easily configured to support most XML models for metadata, change management and fragment identification. Automated support for Word and PDF file types is also available. If ALiCE does not automatically recognize the file type is will prompt the user for metadata and other relevant information.
i4i's XML enabler for Microsoft Word comes with support for semantically rich XML and document fragment management. Because ALiCE is also fully WebDAV-compatible, it will work with any standards-compliant content/document management system right out of the box.
